Canaan Farms Summer Camp

A wonderful summertime experience filled with learning, horses and horseback riding, animal care, art instruction, and nature lore. Day camping with all the amenities of a first class overnight camp, right here in Calvert County. You'll want to spend your whole summer here!

Canaan Farms Campers start their morning with horseback riding and usually come in for lunch around 11:30 – 12:00. After a break from their outdoor activities they go into our air-conditioned studio and have lots of creative time. We usually take several breaks to visit the animals and grab a snack. Activities may vary from week to week depending on the needs of the campers. Our program is ageless. For safety reasons we usually do not take children under eight unless they are students of ours or have been around horses before. Adults are welcome to join us, you will have a great time. The horseback-riding program is oriented more for beginner to intermediate level riders and is taught by a certified instructor. All personnel involved in the camp are First Aid and CPR certified.

Art Instruction with visiting Professional Artists The main art project for the week is the creation of a journal, which involves photography, papermaking, printmaking and drawing. Campers will make a stepping-stone to take with them at the end of the week. Art projects vary according to the particular group we are working with.

How and When to apply:

We have many campers that return for another summer of fun so please register soon. Deposits are non-refundable unless we have to cancel due to inadequate attendance. We need at least 5 campers to hold a summer camp week. This is a small farm so space is limited and small groups are preferred.

Students who are interested in performing internships during the summer, or anytime that your high school/college permits, can contact Selena. We look forward to having you involved at Canaan Farms. When you take into account all that we offer, Canaan Farms is no small operation. Our goal is to provide good quality service and a pleasant atmosphere to all who set foot on our property. This is a teaching environment, and we want you to learn, stay busy with our animals, and have a fun and productive time. Your efforts are important to our success.
